Mycorrhizal fungi are the key components of soil microbiota. They are obligate symbionts but are not host specific. Mycorrhizae are beneficial in low input agricultural systems of tropical acidic and infertile soils. There is tremendous value for mycorrhizal inoculants since they improve the efficiency and sustainability of the crop plants yield in areas of low soil fertility.
