The book describes aspects of the working of the parliamentary system of the country. Over 50 years of age, the system has experiences several jolts and jerks, but, by and large, has stood the test of time, being the only form of government which can endeavour to fulfil the aspirations of the people. The author has tried to scan certain fundamentals and has, in fact, questioned certain aspects of the working of the Parliament which do not bear upright acceptance. At any rate, the author’s note of caution that the people have a right to know whether the present system is really the best in the circumstances, and whether it is not imperative to continuously examine the validity and efficacy thereof, so that the organ may be able to achieve the goal for which it has been created, deserves attention.
