Horticultural crops are adversely affected by a variety of pests and diseases. For the success of hi-tech horticulture, integrated management of these pests and diseases is essential. Research efforts are required to develop models for application of IPM practices for important crops in different locations.
With changing horticultural practices new pests like thrips, white flies, mites, phytoplasma, viruses and viroids are emerging. Some of these are exotic pests.
