There is no absolute standard of living that is universally accepted although the people living in western capitalist societies are often considered to enjoy a higher quality of life. “Quality of life”, however, varies in time, space and culture. What is better in one culture may not be so in another. People’s desires, expectations in material and economic life as well as preceptions of good life vary across cultures.
