Based on 2012 data, India is home to the fourth largest agricultural sector in the world. India has an estimated 180 mill. ha. of farmland with 140 mill. ha. of which are planted and continuously cultivated. Women have a greater role in agriculture. In rural India, the percentage of women who depend on agriculture for their livelihood is as high as 84%. Women make up about 33% of cultivators and about 47% of agricultural laborers. Agriculture technologies are abundantly available. But the major challenge is the dissemination of technologies through effective extension teaching methods.
Extension is an educational process for bringing about the maximum number of desirable changes among the people and needs some tools or methods commonly known as extension teaching methods. A proper understanding of these methods and their selection is very important. The book emphasizes on all these aspects.
