Empowerment of Indian Women
At present the great task before us is the task of
nation building. This task cannot be achieved
unless the women of our society share the work
in an effective manner. The essential and
indispensable contribution of the womenfolk can
be expected only when they received qualitative
education, employment & training and they got
enriched, enlightened and empowered. Thus,
education is essential to empower the women.
The ultimate solution to wipe out the crimes
against women is to empower them through
education. Women empowerment aims at
eliminating discrimination and challenging gender
inequality. A high standard of learning and culture
was reached by Indian women during the Vedic
age. The idea of Indian civilization continued to
flourish as India transcended its journey from
Ancient to Medieval to Modern times.
The book on “Empowerment of Indian
Women” contains 9 chapters relating to various
conceptual and qualitative issues on women’s
studies. This book is very informative, intellectually
stimulating and interesting. The need for such a
comprehensive document was always felt in our
country but was never fulfilled. With this book,
the author has fulfilled this long-felt need by
bringing out different aspects and dimensions of
women’s studies, particularly in the Indian
context. Hopefully, this document will serve as an
essential text-cum- reference tool not only for
professionals working in the field of education
but to the policy planners and administrators as
well. It will also be a useful document for the
parents, community members and the lay
persons. This book will be a valuable addition in
any library for B.Ed./M.Ed./Diploma in Special
Education/M.A. Psychology/M.A. Education/MSW/
M.Sc. Child Development /MA Women’s Studies/
MA Sociology/M Phil Women’s Studies /Diploma
