The teaching in Home Management should centre about the home. It should strive to give girls a realization of the importance of home making in the development of the individual, and of the great part the home plays in the formation of the citizenship of the community and of the nation. Great stress is laid on hygiene and sanitation, including the study of hygienic methods of cleaning. These are great economic factors, as the cost of living is much increased by illness due to preventable diseases. In general, unhygienic methods of food preparation are omitted; when given, their evil effects are explained.
